St David’s Shopping Centre, Cardiff
This project involved the installation of a rapid-drying thin screed as part of the refurbishment of a 1,250m² commercial retail unit within St David’s Shopping Centre, Cardiff.
The existing floor was highly uneven, and required screed depths ranging from 20mm to 60mm. To meet both the technical requirements and the customers time frame, Weber 4360 rapid-drying screed was selected, providing a high-quality finish while allowing following trades to commence work almost immediately after installation.
The project presented significant logistical challenges, with all materials delivered into the shopping centre basement before being transported to the first and second floors via service lifts. The screed was mixed and pumped using our DuoMix 2000, allowing continuous production in 10hr shifts, while maintaining consistent quality throughout the installation.
To achieve the varying depths required across the floor, the area was carefully divided into multiple shuttered bays, enabling each section to be installed accurately and finished to a high standard. Careful planning and execution ensured the project was completed cost effectively and efficiently despite the restricted access and varied floor depths.
