Floor Screeding Services and Floor Screed Pump Hire – The Process
- The area will be prepared to ensure it is clear of debris. As the customer, you will need to make sure there is plenty of room for the equipment and vehicles, adequate waste disposal and no access restrictions to the site. However, once on site, we have the capability to get to hard-to-reach areas with our boom pole and piping facilities.
- Perimeter strips or edging are used to create a boundary around the area and at the desired finished floor level.
- Flow screed is mixed and poured in sections onto the floor.
- A straightedge or levelling tool is used to spread the flow screed to an even and desired thickness.
- Smooth the surface and eliminate air bubbles
- Allow to dry and cure, avoiding foot traffic and heavy loads in the area.
The Key Benefits of Floor Screeding
Compared to conventional screeding techniques, flow screeding has several benefits, including:
- Thinner layers – Flow screed is put in significantly fewer layers than standard screed, which helps lower the floor’s overall weight and save money on materials.
- Minimal drying time – Flow screed dries considerably quicker—usually in less than 24 hours than standard screed, making adding floor finishes easier and quicker.
- Smoother surface – Flow screed is perfect for high-end flooring applications because it creates a flatter surface than standard screed.
- Suitable for underfloor heating – Because of its thin layer, flow screed doesn’t restrict heat transfer effectiveness in underfloor heating systems.
- Decreased chance of cracking – Because flow screed self-compacts, there are fewer voids and air pockets to form than with standard screed.
- Removes the need for physical labour – A pump can be used to apply flow screeding, removing the need for manual labour and lowering the possibility of worker injuries.
Additional Services – Before and After Floor Screeding
Before screeding, upon request, we can take care of the setup and preparation of the screed area, including laying the underfloor heating. When the floor screeding has been completed, we can also return 1-2 weeks later to provide a laitance removal and floor sanding service. We use specialist sanding and vacuum equipment to remove the top surface, allowing follow-on trades to adhere floor coverings like tiles or Karndean more easily.
Based in Denby, Derbyshire we have easy access to London and the Midlands. We predominantly work across the following areas: London, Birmingham, Chesterfield, Derby, Lincoln, Nottingham, Leicester.
